Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser, known for blending progressive post-bop with early music, heads a tribute to the late, ever-stimulating jazz eccentric Jimmy Giuffre, plus crack band, with master-drummer Gerry Hemingway, versatile pianist Russ Lossing and intuitive bassist Masa Kamaguchi.
“A stimulating transatlantic ensemble, balancing a formula that combines drama, risks, meditation and progression.”

Music that physically drags the listener into wondrous landscapes of secrecy and transparency, quiet and pointillistic communication and a surprisingly new combination of instruments: viola da gamba, piano and tuba. Highly virtuosic and with a rich vocabulary of extended techniques these three musicians tell a captivating story.
“Five rather quiet pieces, full of fine moments of tension, delicate surprises, bold sonic gestures carefully placed within the ensemble, in search of a tangible balance that is never taken for granted. Gorgeous.” — François Couture, Monsieur Délire (canada)
